Enterprise Architecture
Experts in Enterprise, Segment and Solution Architecture
How do you create an agile, adaptive, cost-effective and extensible IT infrastructure? By design. More specifically, through the use of enterprise architecture (EA) to align current and future IT capabilities with business requirements and objectives today and tomorrow.
Agilex is a leader in EA, working closely with federal agencies to implement more open, flexible and efficient IT systems. Our architects have deep experience in all facets of the discipline – enterprise, segment and solution architecture – and are highly skilled in all of the tools and methodologies used to communicate and implement a long-term technical vision.
To support these efforts, we have developed our own methodology – Integrated Requirements Design (IRD) – to improve the needs assessment process. IRD fuses and enhances key elements of enterprise architecture (EA), business process modeling and software development requirements analysis together to provide organizations with a more holistic, outcome-oriented approach to managing their IT resources. As an iterative process supporting a continuous planning lifecycle, IRD ensures compliance with enterprise models and standards while providing very detailed and actionable instructions for the development and deployment of complex enterprise systems.
Our services for enterprise architecture include:
- Federal Enterprise Architecture – We utilize our extensive experience with the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) as well as with a number of related models to help government agencies build upon these frameworks to address their own unique requirements. As a key deliverable, we provide the documentation required to demonstrate adherence with these mandates.
- Service Oriented Architecture – We are strong advocates of service-oriented architecture (SOA) due to the extensibility and reuse that it fosters as well as the simplified integration that a standards-based approach enables. As a core discipline at Agilex, our support for SOA includes service design, run-time management and SOA governance. We help organizations utilize SOA to develop new applications faster and to implement more flexible processes .
- System Integration – We integrate legacy, custom and COTS applications to provide decision makers with a ‘single constituent view’ spanning multiple domains. Utilizing standards-based, open technologies, such as enterprise service buses (ESB), we link disparate systems together to automate processes, consolidate data and eliminate latency in decision-making. We are also experts with a number of the underlying standards and reference models, such as Health Level Seven (HL7) for the exchange of health information.
- Business Process Management – Our business analysts use their in-depth technical expertise, extensive domain knowledge and experience with popular process management methodologies to model, automate and improve critical business processes. We document the current ‘as is’and desired ‘future state’ procedure; define process frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs) and business rules; and establish a monitoring strategy for compliance and continuous process improvement.
- Legacy Modernization – While EA is a forward-looking discipline, it cannot ignore the billions invested in legacy systems. We utilize a number of specialized techniques to integrate, web-enable and modernize legacy applications. This allows organizations to capitalize on ‘leave & layer’ strategies as a more cost-effective alternative to ‘rip & replace’.
- IT Governance – We utilize a number of tools and methodologies to measure, monitor and enforce consistency, quality and compliance across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). These processes are designed to serve as an extensive of an organization’s risk management strategy. Through this approach, we help our clients comply with government mandates, meet service-level agreements (SLA) and continuously improve IT performance.
